Video zines

Vídeozines is an original series by Faísca Lab aimed at audiovisual experiments. The goal is to investigate the possibilities of the zine thinking of the artistic languages expansion. This was the first incursion of the label in the proposition of new video artworks.

Mateus Acioli, Ricardo Aleixo and Taís Koshino were invited to develop the pieces that compose the series. Starting from concepts and aspects that cross the boundaries between the modalities, but following the do-it-yourself code, the authors produced works that explore the narrative, visual, sound and temporal potential offered by the creative structures of the video. Examples of results are the replacement of the page mechanism with sequences of frames, home recordings, appropriation of images on the internet, collage, animation and sound design, in addition to several other characteristics that are presented throughout the works.
